Oduduwa Of Oregon

Oduduwa of Oregon is a socio-philanthropic organization open to individuals of Yoruba descent in the State of Oregon and South-West Washington. Membership is also open to Yoruba culture enthusiasts. The organization is Non-Profit and 501(c) 3 registered.

1. Mission Statement – Facilitate the integration of people of Yoruba descent into the Greater Portland and Vancouver community and serving as an exchange platform for cross-culture, traditions and practices within our host community.
2. Goals & Objectives
• Create awareness to the Yoruba culture and traditions by organizing events that show case our heritage and practices.
• Provide educational scholarships to less privileged high school students in Yoruba land that demonstrate promise but lack financial support.
• Provide seminars and workshops to our community on best known methods to successfully integrate into the larger host community (e.g. Insurance protection, Home ownership etc.)
• Support other charitable organizations within the community by collectively offering our time and services
• Develop exchange programs between our host community and Yoruba land to facilitate cross cultural knowledge sharing and experience.

• Greater Portland and Vancouver Communities
• Oregon local and State Governments

1. Procedures/Meeting Frequency – Monthly
2. Decision Making Process – Determined by Consensus. Defer to Executive in the event of an impasse
3. Communication – Meeting minutes e-mailed to relevant stakeholders.
